QUALITY ASSURANCE

HPA Laboratories, Inc. is dedicated to quality. We believe that accuracy of results is paramount and takes precedence over turnaround time, cost, and other factors. Inaccurate results can be detrimental to the patient and are a waste of time and money no matter how fast or inexpensive. Our established written procedures are designed to prevent laboratory errors in the processing of any specimens. We take pride in our "Zero Tolerance" for laboratory errors.

All pathologists at HPA are Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists, having demonstrated their knowledge and skill by successfully passing the certifying examination. Our pathologists actively pursue continuing education and continually strive to improve their knowledge and skills.

HPA is a member of the Veterinary Laboratory Association, and participates in the VLA Quality Assurance Program. In addition, HPA performs regular in-house proficiency testing and participates in other external programs in order to insure accuracy and precision of results. We periodically refer unusual cases to other veterinary pathologists and laboratories for second opinions and special procedures to insure accurate diagnoses and the quality of our results. We also participate in the annual Equine Infectious Anemia proficiency testing program administered by the USDA and take great pride in always achieving a perfect score.
